We know that our students are very excited about summer coming and yet after about 3 weeks of being out of school they are usually a little bored, maybe getting into a little trouble, and possibly could use something constructive to do with their time. Excel Christian School is considering opening our doors for our Jr. & Sr. High to be able to come to the school and have a great time as they focus on the art of theater and on leadership principles. There will be a minimal cost applied in order to have proper supervision and the caliber of teaching that you have come to expect at Excel. If you would like your child to attend these fun-filled activities please contact the office. If we have enough students signed up to cover the cost of running these workshops, we will then send out a registration form and collect the finances at that time.
Possible Workshops and Schedule
Drama and Theatre
June 14-17, 1 pm to 5 pm: Beginning Drama and Improv
June 21-24, 1 pm to 5 pm: Creative Thinking & Writing Plays
June 28- July 1, 1 pm to 5 pm: Theatre and acting
We will perform what we have learned on each Thursday at 4 PM for spectators. On July 2nd in the evening we will invite friends and family to come and watch our actors in action. They will perform some improv, some plays that they wrote and one full final act for the evening.
Leadership Success
July 5-8, 1 pm to 5 pm: Leadership Principles
July 12-15, 1 pm to 5 pm: Public Speaking and Presenting
July 19-22, 1 pm to 5 pm: Learning to Follow in Order to Lead
These workshops will work with the students helping them develop a personal mission statement, define personal identity, learn to present who they are in any situation, and set them up to succeed when they are faced with difficult self-esteem decisions. On the evening of July 23rd, the students will invite friends and family to come to a dinner and a presentation that will be organized and run by the students. This dinner will have a small cost to cover the finances of the evening. The cost per student per week will be $50.
