Hi,
I’m Lisa Cross, and I’m very blessed to be the principal of Excel Christian School. I’m currently living my dream of working in a career where Christ is at the center of everything we do. In 1986, I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in education. After teaching in the public system and secular private schools, I answered God’s call to Christian education in 2000. I happily joined Bonnie Krupa for the founding of Excel Christian School in 2003.
For two years I served as an education consultant for a protestant denomination, traveling throughout Northern Nevada to train and equip Sunday school teachers. It was that experience that led me to listen carefully to the call God was placing on my heart about Christian education. I served as Head Teacher at Excel for 5 years before moving into a vice-principal position under Bonnie Krupa. With her as my mentor, I was ready to take on my new role as principal in 2010.
I’ve been happily married to my husband, Jack, for 30 years, and together we have four amazing grown children, three of whom are alumni of Excel. Raising four children who love God, pursue knowledge and commit to loving relationships is my greatest success story. My husband is an ordained minister, and we both serve in leadership at our church. Jack’s paying job involves electrical engineering, 3D radars and other technical stuff that he’d love to tell you about if you ask him!
Motivating students to find joy in the pursuit of excellence is my passion, and every day is both a blessing and an adventure in Christian education. I have an open door policy and look forward to sharing with you the joy that being a part of Excel Christian School brings.
